The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County has risen for the third consecutive day, returning numbers back to those seen in mid-June.
Last week ended with 23 persons battling the disease; that total rose by eleven on Monday, added another six on Tuesday, and by Wednesday 42 active cases were being monitored by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. A total of 13,942 cases have now been recorded here. On a positive note, no current cases in Sheboygan County require hospitalization.
The two-week averages released on Wednesday by the Wisconsin DHS show Sheboygan County experiencing a “medium” activity level, with a burden of 44.5 cases per 100,000 persons and a trajectory that is showing no significant change since rising significantly the week before.
Even as cases rise, Sheboygan County rates of vaccinations to prevent the spread are slowing. State data show only 206 shots administered this week in the county, and only 47.7% of our population fully protected against the coronavirus.
