Six more new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were added on Tuesday by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, raising the number of confirmed cases here to 13,939. Statistics compiled by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Tuesday showed the 7-day average of new daily confirmed cases in Sheboygan County is now up to 4, double the rate noted at the beginning of the week, and 40 active cases are now being monitored in the county, up by six in the last day and returning to levels of a month ago. Hospitalizations have been a bright spot amid the other data, with none recorded since July 2nd, and no deaths have been added since July 9th.
Vaccinations are being urged to combat the spread of the virus, especially the Delta variant that’s expected to become the dominant strain of SARS-CoV-2, but Sheboygan County is experiencing low rates with only 49.6% having received at least one dose, and 47.7% being fully inoculated. To encourage vaccinations, a free “Walk-In Wednesday” event is offered each Wednesday between 9 and 4 at the Division of Public Health building on North 8th Street across from Fountain Park.
