The Division of Public Health issued its weekly update on the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic on Thursday, indicating an upward progression in Sheboygan County, reversing for now a trend that had seen the pandemic gradually ease over the past several months.
Over the past week, 17 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19 were received, raising the running total to 13,917. During the same period, the State of Wisconsin overall added 929 cases, with 613,484 total recorded. The active case count fell to 24 as of Thursday, the lowest since 19 were recorded on July 1st of 2020. One death was recorded in the last week, putting the county toll at 152. 5 persons needed hospitalizations in the past week, although none remained there as of Thursday.
Statistically, Sheboygan County has gone from a “Medium” activity level last week to a “High” level this week. The current burden rate is at 30.6 per 100,000 people. That compares with 22.7 last week – a growing rate in trajectory of 170%.
Sheboygan County still hasn’t achieved at least one vaccine shot to 50% of the population. That figure is at 49.3%. 47.4% are now fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
