
Daniel “Demo” Robert Van Engen 86, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away peacefully
on Monday morning, June 21, 2021 after celebrating Father’s Day with his family.
Demo was born on August 27, 1934, in Sheboygan Falls to Jacob and Inez (nee
Daharsh) Van Engen. He was a 1952 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School,
and went on to serve his country in the National Guard as a sergeant first class
leader.
After the service, he worked for Van Engen’s Service Station for the next 18 years,
followed by him managing the Falls Co-op for the next five years. He went on to
work for Hunter Engineering for 22 years, retiring in 1996.
On April 21, 1956 Demo was united in marriage with Beverly Gannigan at
Fountain Park United Methodist Church in Sheboygan.
He was a member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church in Sheboygan, a
dedicated member of Sheboygan Falls Lions Club for over 45 years, and founding
member of United Football League in Sheboygan Falls where he volunteered for
over 30 years.
Demo was handy and always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed bowling,
playing softball, playing cards, watching his children and grandchildren play sports
and was an avid Wisconsin sports fan.
Demo is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beverly Van Engen of Sheboygan Falls;
daughter, Bonnie (David) Albrecht of Sheboygan Falls and their children, Brad
(Stef), Tyler (Shelbey), Eric (Kathryn); four sons, Jim (Kris) Van Engen of
Sheboygan Falls and their children, Nicole (fiancé, Dominik) and Danielle; Brian
(Jill) Van Engen of Sheboygan Falls and their children, Zach, and Joe; Terry
(Julie) Van Engen of Sheboygan Falls and their children Alyssa (Alex) Walford
and Erika Van Engen; and Paul (Jennifer) Van Engen of Germantown and their
children Jackson, Spencer, and Parker; two great-grandchildren; Carter Albrecht
and Owen Albrecht, and expecting two additional great-grandchildren; five sisters,
Virginia Boetcher, Joan (Conrad) Zimmermann, Mary Lou Beeck, Kathleen (Rich)
Kettner, Judy (Wayne) Frank, brother, Richard (Jeanette) Van Engen; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Demo was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Inez Van Engen, and
brother, Jerry Van Engen.
A memorial service to celebrate Demo’s life will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021,
at 5:00 pm at Fountain Park United Methodist Church, 828 Erie Ave. in Sheboygan
with Pastor Warren Waddell officiating.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church on Friday from 1:00 pm
until the time of service at 5:00 pm.
