Even though the number of active COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County has been declining on average for nearly two months, the coronavirus remains a deadly threat as another county resident has fallen victim. The person, identified only as someone at least 80 years old, becomes the 146th victim of the pandemic in Sheboygan County. Of that number, seventy-seven were 80 or older, thirty-two were in their 70s, twenty-three were in their 60s, five were in their 50s, five were in their 40s, three were in their 30s and one was between 10 and 19 years old.
13,843 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Sheboygan County so far with the addition of 5 positive test results logged on Wednesday by the Division of Public Health. Those were countered by 9 recoveries. The number of hospitalized remains steady at 3.
The two-week rates and trajectories for Sheboygan County, revised as of June 2nd, show a “High” activity level, with a “Moderately High” burden of 67.2 cases per 100,000 persons and no significant change in trajectory.
Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services confirmed another 234 cases statewide, raising the total to 620,400. 16 more deaths were attributed to the disease, raising the toll to 7,110. The Wisconsin Hospitals Association reported a net drop of 10 patients since Tuesday, and 184 persons are now hospitalized in Wisconsin for treatment. 67 of those are in ICU beds, and 377 patients in all are ventilated.
In Sheboygan County, another 79 more persons had received at least one shot of vaccine since Tuesday, raising the number receiving at least one dose to 53,409. That’s 46.3% of the county population. 46,961, or 40.7%, are fully vaccinated.
