Daniel (Dan) Raml passed away surrounded by his loving wife and
daughters on May 2, 2021.
Dan was preceded in death by his father (Louis), his mother (Irene), and his brother (Michael).
Dan married Barbara (Barb) Schwanke almost 51 years ago. Dan and Barb took care of each other and
loved each other completely. Together they raised two daughters, Jody (Chad) Solberg of Sheboygan
and Vicky (Jeff) Glider of Oconomowoc. Dan was always proud of his girls and worked hard to give them
the best life possible. Dan loved watching his two granddaughters, Hayley and Melanie, grow into
beautiful young ladies. He will always look over them. They will miss “junking” with him and Barb on
Saturday mornings and finding second-hand treasures. We know that Dan will also be looking out for his
step-grandson, Braydon Glider.
Dan is survived by his above mentioned wife, daughters, son-in-laws, and grandchildren. He will also be
missed by his siblings, Diane (Steve) Krepsky, Debbie (Mike) Bartzen, and Dennis Raml – all from
Sheboygan. Uncle Dan has numerous nieces and a nephew who will remember his love, support, and
entertaining stories.
Dan was a proud sheet metal worker for over 30 years. He prided himself on his work ethic and the
quality of his workmanship. He enjoyed working with all “the guys” on his various crews. Even after
retirement, Dan stayed busy. He worked part time at the Sheboygan Falls High School, mowing the lawn
and doing ground maintenance.
Through the years Dan enjoyed cars. Looking at them, buying them, and selling them. He loved haggling
with the car lot salespeople and always seemed to get the best deals. They never stood a chance against
Dan! Dan enjoyed golfing, with countless Sunday mornings spent with Barb and their friends enjoying
the greens and drinking the beers. In his younger days, Dan was quite the softball player. Him and his
buddy Brian Steinhaus were a formidable team in the outfield. We are pretty sure those two are playing
in the “old man” league together up in heaven.
For many years Dan and Barb had a camper up in Montello, Wisconsin. He loved playing cards with his
dear friends, Paul and Colleen Mayer, shooting the breeze with Lloyd Marquardt and the late Bill
McGann, and driving around in the golf cart with his canine companion, Chloe. He did some fishing, but
was convinced there actually are no fish in Lake Puckaway.
Because Barb loves to be warm all of the time, for the past several years they have spent the harsh, cold
Wisconsin winters down in Texas. The fishing is better in the Gulf of Mexico than in Lake Puckaway…go
figure. Dan and Barb also liked to play shuffleboard, golf, and look for the elusive Chupacabra from the
safety of their porch.
It is hard to summarize a life like Dan’s, but here goes….Dan was a man who would give you the shirt off
of his back. He was tough but fair. He pushed people to be better and do better. He was no-nonsense
and no bull. He loved and protected his family. Dan will not be easily forgotten and we are all better off
for knowing him.
A visitation will be held for Dan on Friday, May 14 th from 10:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. at Reinbold-Novak
Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12 th Street in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. A memorial service will follow from 12:00
p.m. – 1:00 p.m. with a family/friend luncheon served at Town and Country Golf Course. Masks are at
your personal discretion.
