MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Miami Marlins beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-2 on Wednesday afternoon at American Family Field, taking 2 of 3 in the series.
Brewer pitchers issued 10 walks in the game including five by starter Zack Godley. Godley, starting for the injured Brett Anderson, gave up four runs, three earned in 3 innings with five walks and five strikeouts. He left the game after injuring his hand during a bunt attempt.
The Marlins scored twice in the 2nd inning after first base umpire Marty Foster called obstruction on Godley as he fielded a ball on the first base side. Replay did not show any obstruction, although Foster continued to claim after the game that there was. Craig Counsell said it was a terrible call. He said, “It never happened and cost us a run.”
Former Brewer Jesus Aguilar hit a three run homer in the 4th inning for Miami.
Kolten Wong accounted for both Brewer runs with a two-run homer.
Milwaukee falls to 14-10 and will start a big four game series with the LA Dodgers on Thursday night. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 6:05.
