Elda Veldboom, 96, of Plymouth, formerly of Cedar Grove, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at her home.
Elda was born to Benjamin and Cynthia (Mentink) Scholten on March 18, 1925 in the Town of Holland. She attended Hoard Grade School and only one year at Cedar Grove High School because of the war.
She was united in marriage to Oscar Veldboom on September 4, 1946 in the Town of Lima. Oscar preceded her in death on October 22, 2001.
Elda was a charter member of Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and making jam.
Elda is survived by her two daughters, Janice Mae (Scott) Curtiss and Linda (DuWayne) Wieck both of Plymouth; two sons, Harold (Donna) Veldboom of Gibbsville and David Veldboom of Cedar Grove; grandchildren, Stacey (Joe) Alsteen, Kelly Sietz, Kevin (Julie) Wieck, Tracey (Kevin) Anderson, Heidi (Joe) Anderson, Allison (Jason) Giordano, Michael (Renee) Curtiss, Dayvin (Jonell) Curtiss, Katherine (Spencer) Hansen; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 step great-grandson. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, and in-laws.
A funeral service will be held to celebrate Elda’s life at Faith Reformed Church (243 S. 4th Street) in Cedar Grove on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:00 am. If unable to attend all are welcome to join via livestream by visiting wenig.live/EldaVeldboom. Burial will take place at Hartman Cemetery.
Family and friends may greet the family at church from 9:30 until the time of service at 11:00.
