The pace of any change in the status of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in Sheboygan County is slow for the time being, with new cases and recoveries staying close enough to keep active cases in a narrow range since last falling below 200 on February 15th. Active cases reached a low point this year of 131 on March 5th and 9th, and were tabulated at 164 today. 17 recoveries offset the 15 new confirmed cases since Tuesday. Hospitalizations were steady at 10.
The updated 2-week data and trajectories from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services shows Sheboygan at a “High” activity level, with 204.3 cases per 100,000 persons, and no significant change in trajectory. And over the past 7 days, the average percent positive by test for Sheboygan County was 4.9%, down from 6.2% a week previous.
As of Wednesday morning, 39.6% of Sheboygan County residents had received at least 1 dose of vaccine. In those 65 and older, that figure reached 80.1%. Full vaccination has been acquired by 27.7% of the population, amounting to 31,942 Sheboygan County residents.
Wisconsin recorded 626 new cases of COVID-19 since Tuesday, and the total case count is now 592,262. Three more deaths were attributed to the disease, putting the state’s toll at 6,721. 70 more hospitalizations were reported, and after deaths and discharges the state’s COVID-19 patient population rose 14 to 364, 105 of those in ICU beds. 387 patients in all require mechanical ventilation for survival.
