Craig Schrameyer, age 74, of Grand Prairie, Texas (formerly of Sheboygan) died on Saturday March 27, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Sheboygan on January 6, 1947 the son of the late Robert and Doloris Dittes Schrameyer.
He attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1965. Craig was an U.S. Army Veteran and served his country from 1966 to 1968. Craig proudly served Sheboygan as a fireman for 32 years.
Craig was a past member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Sheboygan. Craig enjoyed following both of his son’s sports careers. He photographed, video-taped, and scrapbooked their accomplishments. Craig had many interests. Activities he enjoyed were ping-pong at the fire station, refinishing old furniture, fishing on Crystal Lake and Lake Michigan, golfing, boating, and water skiing. He loved spending time at the family’s Crystal Lake property and got great satisfaction with training and showing dogs. Beside this, Craig was the one to call when something needed to be done. He knew a little bit about everything! Craig could fix almost anything. If he could not fix it, he knew someone who could.
Another favorite activity was softball. Craig liked going to the fireman-fisherman softball games, held at Rochester Park in Sheboygan Falls. He was also involved in firemen only softball tournaments, and their teams always did well. One of the highlights of his career was to be on the Schwarz Fish Softball team, along with his son, Scott, and coached by his brother-in-law, Steve Schwarz. That year, they were the S.S.A. Panther League champions.
After retirement, Craig looked forward to monthly breakfasts with the retired firefighters.
Survivors include his two sons, Scott (Brenda Morateck) Schrameyer and Nathan Schrameyer, both of Sheboygan; three grandchildren, Jackson, Zoe, and Mayson; a brother, Robert (Sue) Schrameyer, of Goshen, Indiana and his beloved friend, Valerie Fare, of Grand Prairie, Texas. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Craig was preceded in death by parents, and his first wife of 37 years, Linda C. Schrameyer.
A cremation has taken place and a private graveside service be held this summer at the Lutheran Cemetery in Sheboygan. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the staff at Texas Health Arlington Memorial for their compassion and care given to Craig.
