A major infrastructure project that begins next week will mean major disruptions for those living and working on and around Georgia Avenue between South 8th Street and South Business Drive.
From Monday, April 19th through sometime in August, Georgia Avenue will be closed to through traffic in order to replace the water main that runs beneath it, replace lead water service pipes that connect to the homes, repair the storm sewer, re-do the sidewalk and apply new asphalt pavement. New traffic signals will also be installed at the South Business Drive intersection. During the project, residents and businesses will be accessible using the cross streets.
City Engineer Kevin Jump acknowledged the inconvenience that will result, and asked for patience and cooperation while the joint project between the City of Sheboygan and the Sheboygan Water Utility is completed.
