Jeffrey Scott Nierode, age 62, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully at home with his husband
& best friend of 40 years, Wayne, by his side on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
Jeff was born on July 21, 1958, in Port Washington to Armin and Shirley (Dumer) Nierode. He
graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, with a term completed in Thailand. In
1980, Jeff met Wayne in Milwaukee and shortly thereafter they relocated to southeast Florida,
finally settling in Dania Beach, Florida. While there, Jeff enjoyed his position of Southeast
Regional Accountant for the Westrec Marina Management Company.
Jeff will be missed by his loving husband, Wayne Neumann; stepson, Michael P. Coloso; siblings,
Phillip (Sandy) Nierode, Jan (Dan) Warnke, and Mike (Tracey) Nierode; mother-in-law, Carol
Neumann; sisters-in-law, Sharleen Neumann and Pamela Neumann; brother-in-law, Russell
Neumann; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is also survived by his
trusty sidekick, the ever fearless border collie, Henry.
Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandy Nierode; and father-in-law, Wayne
Neumann.
Jeff had a love for literature, movies, and music. He was happiest at the grill, or in the kitchen
cooking with a special gift for baking. Jeff had a fondness for nature, and he and Wayne enjoyed
camping, hiking, and bicycling – wherever a sunset over water could be found. He also loved all
forms of gardening, whether it was doing yardwork or tending his annual garden. He loved
travel and there was always an upcoming adventure in the works, whether it was to Door
County or Paris.
Jeff loved life & lived it to the fullest. He had a keen, dry sense of humor & would zing you at
every opportunity. He was a very compassionate and caring man, with great insight and
sensitivity to the feelings of others around him and what was going on within their hearts &
minds. He wouldn’t want any tears shed for him, but rather would insist that you raise your
glass, and with a smile on your face, toast to his memory. And if you did it more than once, he
would have no problem at all.
A Time of Remembrance will be held for Jeff at 3:00-5:00 PM on Friday, April 23, 2021, at
Ballhorn Chapels in Sheboygan, WI.
A special thank you to the kindhearted staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic & the skilled
Angels from the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their compassionate care.
