Allen S. Raeder, a life-long resident of the Town of Greenbush, passed away on April 7 th , 2021.
He was born on January 18, 1930, the son of Edmund and Ella Raeder. He attended Hulls Crossing grade
school and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1948.
On September 19, 1953, he was united in marriage to Janet A. Meyer at St. Lukes Lutheran Church in
Sheboygan Falls.
After marriage, Allen worked at the Greenbush Auto Garage and Kohler Company. In 1961, Allen and
Janet built and operated the Stagecoach Drive-In Restaurant in Greenbush until they sold the business in
1968. With a dream to go back to farming he moved the family to rural Greenbush and had done cash
cropping and raising/selling young stock until retirement.
Allen was a member of the Greenbush Fire Department for 52 years where he served as Fire Chief and
1 st Assistant Chief. He was Greenbush Town Clerk and served on the Sheboygan County Board for 30
years; Farm Bureau member; United Church of Christ member and served on the Elkhart Lake-
Glenbeulah School Board and Plymouth Skat Card Club. He loved to play Sheepshead with family and
friends.
As a knowledgeable collector of antiques he was a member of the Missouri Valley Wrench Club, the Cast
Iron Seat Collectors Association. He attended many steam engine shows throughout the Midwest
where he exhibited his collections of cast iron seats, wrenches, tool boxes that were used on early horse
drawn machinery. As a polio survivor in his teenage years, he never let disability slow him down.
He is survived by his wife Janet who helped him through many years of hard work.
They had three children: Deborah (Robert) Sippel of St Cloud, WI, Russell (Rhonda) Raeder, Lancaster,
WI and Perry Raeder, Town of Greenbush; Grandchildren: Nicole (Dan) Bulin, Jason Sippel, Nicole (Paul
Adkins) and Dustin Wissbaum; and four great grandchildren.
He is also survived by one sister, Isobel Sharpe, sister-in-law Janet Raeder (Ronald’s wife), sister- in-law
Joyce Clemens and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gerald and Marilyn Meyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edmund and Ella Raeder, father and mother-in-law Art and
Lona Meyer, step father-in-law Walter Gannon, brother/sister in laws Melvin (Bernice) Raeder, David
(Jeanette) Raeder, and Ronald Raeder and three sisters/brother in laws June (Elroy) Guenther, Jeanette
(Wilbur) Bohnhoff and twin sister Alice Raeder, brother-in-law Joseph Sharpe and brother-in-law Dale
Clemens
A celebration of Allen’s life will be held on Wednesday (April 14, 2021) from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. at the
Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Masks and social distancing will be required. Private family
inurnment will take place in the Greenbush Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Allen’s name for the Greenbush Fire Dept.
Allen’s family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Pine Haven Christian Communities and
Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion they provided.
