The number of active COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County is edging upwards as of Monday’s report from the County Division of Public Health. The pace, however, is modest compared with the peak of the pandemic. Still, the 171 active cases recorded now is the highest since 172 were recorded on March 19th. 56 new confirmed cases overcame 41 recoveries to raise the active case count by 15, and the running total to 13,324. 3 more persons were hospitalized, and 4 county residents are currently admitted for treatment.
At least one dose of vaccination has now been administered to almost 1/3 (32.5%) of the county’s population, and 20,796, or 18%, are fully vaccinated. As of today, April 5th, every Wisconsinite age 16 and older is eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Wisconsin has now recorded 580,184 cases of COVID-19 with the addition of another 307 confirmed cases today. One more death raises that toll to 6,640, and 30 more persons were hospitalized since Sunday. After accounting for death and discharges, the state’s COVID-19 patient population grew by 6 to a total fo 241 patients, 64 of those in ICU beds. 23 patients have been admitted and await their test results, and 386 patients in the state are ventilated, whether for COVID or another reason.
