Patricia (Hughes) Wynveen, 77, of Cascade, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday (March 30,
2021), surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 22, 1944 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to the late Thomas and Constance (Croghan)
Hughes. Most of her life was spent in Cascade where she attended grade school. Patty graduated in
1962 from Plymouth High School. She attended Prospect Hall Secretarial School in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin graduating from there in 1963. After working two years, Patty married Lowell “Windy”
Wynveen at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cascade on February 20, 1965. Three beautiful children
(Michael, David, and Ann) were born to Patty and Lowell. Patty became a stay-at-home mom, which she
felt was the best job she ever had! When the kids were older, Patty worked at various jobs for 20 years.
Patty loved visiting with her friends and going out to lunch. For 35 years, daily walks were a part of her
life and her grandchildren enjoyed going along on the walks with her. Reading was another enjoyment,
as well as camping with her family at Plymouth Rock Camping Resort, and baking for others. Her biggest
love was time spent with her family. She attended many of her grandchildrens’ events throughout the
years.
While at St. Mary’s Church in Cascade, Patty sang in the choir and taught religious education for many
years. When St. Mary’s closed, she taught at St. John the Baptist in Plymouth for three years. Patty was
also a member of the Cascade Lion’s Club.
Patty is survived by her husband Lowell; Son: Mike (Tresa) and their daughters Grace and Emma;
Daughter: Ann (fiancé Lynn Vollmar) and children Jennifer, Jessica, and Andrew Fenske.
She is further survived by: Her brothers: Michael (Janet) Hughes, Tim Hughes, Dennis (Dianne) Hughes;
Sister-in-law: Kathy Hughes; Lowell’s siblings: Marge (Herbert) Dirkse, Cal (Vonnie) Wynveen, Bob
(Kathy) Wynveen, and Gary and Judi Ten Haken; Her sweet puppy, Stormy, and Reilly the cat; as well as
numerous cousins, beloved nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Those awaiting Patty’s arrival are: Her parents, Thomas and Connie Hughes; Much loved son: David
Wynveen; Brother: Robert Hughes; In-laws: Lloyd and Marian Wynveen; Brother-in-law: Mark Wynveen,
and all her beloved neighbors.
A memorable quote Patty wanted to share: “Remember me with joy and the happy days we had. I’ll
never be far away and will always watch over you, my dear family. And when we meet again, it will be
forever in a place where there is no death or separation.”
Her family would like to give a huge thanks to Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, Froedtert Hospital in
West Bend, and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, nurses, social workers, and doctors, and the
Suchon Funeral Home for their extended help and guidance through these difficult times.
The family would also like to show our appreciation to Patty’s granddaughter Jessica, for helping the
hospice workers and being by her grandma’s side during her last few days. Jessica and Patty were best
friends throughout Patty’s life.
We appreciate all the kind words and prayers that have been extended to our family at this time.
A celebration of Patty’s life will be held on Friday (April 9, 2021) at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. A
visitation requiring masks and social distancing will take place from 4:00-6:00PM, with a prayer service
to follow at 6:00PM. Fr. Philip Reifenberg will officiate.
