While the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health was on pause for Good Friday, statistics were maintained by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. Those stats show that 19,844 – or 17.2% of Sheboygan County Residents had been fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, while over 36,000 – 31.2% – had received at least one dose. Broken down by demographics, the largest category having received at least one dose were those 65 and older, with 76.2% so treated. 58.2% of that group were fully vaccinated. More females than males in the county had completed their vaccine series 20.8% to 13.6%. By far the largest percentage vaccinated, sorted by ethnicity, were whites at 17.7%. Sheboygan County’s black population was the least vaccinated at 2.3%.
The Wisconsin DHS reports another 875 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 out of a test pool of 4,191, putting the running total at 578,587. 8 more deaths push the toll up to 6,633, and 47 more persons were hospitalized for treatment of the illness. After accounting for deaths and discharges, the state’s COVID-19 patient population rose 5 to a total of 244, 60 of those in ICU beds. 356 ventilators are in use, some possibly among the 21 patients who are still awaiting test results.
