Alfred Charles “Al” Miller, age 94, of Plymouth, left his beloved family on March 31, 2021.
He was born August 13, 1926 in Kohler, WI, son of the late Alfred J. and Lucille Gottschalk
Miller. His early childhood years were spent living at the Kohler estate while his father was
personal chauffeur to then-governor Kohler. The family later moved to Plymouth when Al’s
parents purchased and operated Miller’s Supper Club on Hwy 67 and later owned by Jack for a
combination of over 50 years.
Al attended Kohler Grade School and St. John the Baptist Catholic Grade School; graduating
from Plymouth High School in 1944.
He served his country during World War II in the United States Air Force, 1944-1945, and then
pursued a college education through Michigan State University. Al owned and operated Miller
Power Equipment, Plymouth, for 40 years. He developed his love for snowmobiling as the result
of this business, and passed that fond hobby on to his children.
On May 7, 1955, Al married Vivian Krebsbach. They resided in Plymouth and raised a lively and
loving family of six.
Al was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, serving in their choir and on church
council. He was also very active in Plymouth’s St. Vincent de Paul Society, and held a key role
in the planning and expansion of the local Society. He was a member of the Ladewig-Zinkgraf
American Legion Post #243 and active on the Firing Squad.
Al’s hobbies included golfing, bowling, snowmobiling, woodworking, fishing in Canada with his
friends, traveling, reading, and yard work. His family fondly recalls the pranks that were pulled
between Al and some of his friends. They were known to play elaborate pranks on each other,
some of which involved plane travel, disguises, large pieces of equipment, and landscape
modifications.
