Bernette Edna DeZwarte, 84, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Hospital.
She was born on March 16, 1937 to Rubin and Edna (Buttke) Blanke in Sheboygan.
Bernette was united in marriage to Roger Theobald on November 12, 1955 at Salem Plank Road United Church of Christ. Roger preceded her in death on March 14, 1984.
She was united in marriage to Robert DeZwarte on August 8, 1986 at First Congregational United Church of Christ.
Bernette loved to attend all the grandchildren’s events and enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and embroidery, she was extremely talented, and her many home-made pieces will be missed. Being a hard-working, busy, and caring woman, she crocheted hundreds of baby hats and blankets that were donated to newborn babies at Sheboygan hospitals, as well as countless blankets for veterans.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger and step-daughter, Michelle Paul. She is survived by her loving husband Robert, daughters; Diane (Tad) Goedeke, Julie (Mike) Frier, Debra (Mark) Meyer, step-children; Robin (Kevin) Updegrove, Denise (Eric) Amweg, Van (Jenny) DeZwarte, Natalie (Michael) Pelot, Holly DeZwarte (Steve Musial), 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 14 step-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
Family and friends may greet the family on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls. Following visitation, a private family funeral service will be held, however all are welcome to join the service via livestream at 1:00 pm by visiting wenig.live/BernetteDeZwarte.
Aligning with her many years of charity to newborn babies, a memorial fund is established in her name to children cancer charities, in lieu of flowers.
