Most Wisconsin voters already have some form of ID needed to vote, including a Wisconsin driver license or ID. But for those still in need, the Wisconsin Elections Commission says that a few steps taken now will provide that ID in time for April 6th.
First, visit the Wisconsin Department of Transportation DMV website to review the information posted there.
Second, bring the documents needed to apply, such as a birth certificate, proof of identity and Wisconsin residency, to a DMV office. An ID Petition Process is available if normal documentation isn’t, and you’ll be given a receipt valid for voting while the State works to validate your status.
The DMV says that anyone who doesn’t yet have an ID to vote should start the process now, and the DMV’s toll-free voter ID hotline at (844) 588-1069 is available for questions on obtaining an ID to vote. Questions regarding voter eligibility, poll locations, voter registration information or other election information can be directed to the Wisconsin Elections Commission http://elections.wi.gov/
DMV’s website has a locator to find the nearest DMV and check wait times.
And you can get started on your Id application here.
