Michael Jay Schmidt, 39, of Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Mequon as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
Born August 21, 1981 in Sacramento, CA, Michael was the only son of William and Linda Torres Schmidt. He attended Sheboygan area schools and graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 2000.
Michael worked in construction with his father for many years. They also worked with Charter Communications and installed Four Seasons Greenhouses. He helped run Billy’s on Broadway in Manitowoc. He enjoyed camping, shooting bow and arrows and motorcycle riding, especially his Uncle Tom’s Harley Davidson. He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. His greatest joy was spending time with his son, Sergio and his fiancé, Poua and her daughter, Madelyne. Michael enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. He loved children, sweets, particularly cupcakes. He was a jokester who was always goofing around.
He is survived by his son, Sergio Perez, Sheboygan; his fiancé, Poua Yang and her daughter, Madelyne, Sheboygan; his father, William R. Schmidt, Green Bay, his mother, Linda Torres, Sheboygan; his sisters including his twin, Melinda Jo Schmidt and Melissa Schmidt, both of Sheboygan; his grandmother, Sulema Torres; his uncles and aunts, John, Kevin and Fred (Lisa Radtke) Schmidt, Mary (Tom) Mullens, Yolanda Torres, Ruben (Sara) Torres, Jr. and Angelita (Mark) Rothering; his niece, Angelicia Gonzales; a nephew, Robert Philip McGillis, III; other relatives and many friends. He is further survived by his boarder collie, Bailey.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruben Torres, and William and Edith Schmidt, and his aunt, Lori Schmidt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 818 Huron Avenue, Sheboygan. Family and friends are welcome at the church on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. COVID 19 guidelines and social distancing will be observed and masks are required. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
The Olson Funeral Home & Cremation Service has been entrusted with Michael’s arrangements.
