Dorothy J. Mayer, 83, of Howards Grove, passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at
Sheboygan Senior Community Center. Dorothy had previously lived at Harvest Home for
the past two years.
Dorothy was born on August 7, 1937, in Chippewa Falls to Glen and Esther (Meisfeld)
Popple. On November 28, 1969 she was united in marriage to Herman Mayer, the love of
her life. She worked at various places over her lifetime, including Sheboygan Retirement
Home and Lakeland Manufacturing.
Having a strong faith, Dorothy was a member of Ebenezer UCC in Sheboygan and attended
bible classes every Wednesday morning. She enjoyed her ‘mystery trips’ on the bus with
Herman, Iris, and Vernon. Her Alaskan cruise was a special trip that she always
remembered. She also loved going to Klemme’s fish fries and getting their old-fashioneds.
She was an avid gardener and could fix anything with a needle and thread. One of her
favorite pastimes was watching her grandchildren enjoy the pool in her backyard.
Dorothy will be missed by her son, Kerry (LouAnn) Wilsing; daughters, Karen (Mike) Hohn
and Tammy Mayer; grandchildren, Laura (Tim) Stanton, Lynn (Doug) Reinhardt, Lucas
(Becky) Wilsing, Ashley (Bill Majeski) Hohn, Eric (Jackie) Hohn, Heather (Pat) DeWitt,
Wyatt Benson, Kerry Shady and Corey Shady; great-grandchildren, Grace and Noah
Stanton, Luke and Landon Reinhardt, Dylan and Nolan Hohn, Henry Majeski, Aubrey, Liam,
Lexi, and Harper DeWitt, and a twelfth great-grandson due in May; and brother, Robert
(Mary) Popple. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Herman; her parents;
and her older brother, Glen “Kelly”; and her twin great-grandsons.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Zimmer-Westview
