Paul “Pauly” “Coco” Michael Cochems age 69, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully on Monday,
March 15, 2021 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice of hepatic failure and complications
associated with liver disease.
He was born on July 23, 1951 in Madison, WI. A son of the late Henry “Ned” and Beatrice (Klinger)
Cochems and grew up with seven other siblings. Paul graduated from West High School in 1968. As a
young teenager, he met, and fell in love with, Monica Kyle in 1965. They were married in August of
1973, at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. In June of 1981, they welcomed a daughter, Geraldena
Kyle-Cochems, in to the world. In 1983, Paul moved to Plymouth and started working at Kettle Moraine
Correctional Institution until his retirement. Although divorced, Paul and Monica were able to maintain
a friendship and co-parent their daughter. Paul never missed a holiday with his daughter and cherished
every moment spent together. His daughter was there with him every day at the end of his life’s
journey.
A few things Paul enjoyed most in his life were fishing, playing pool, western movies, western books,
dice games, and riding his scooter to the tavern to spend time with his friends. Paul loved living in
Plymouth. He found amazing friendships there, including, but not limited to, Debbie & Dean (& son,
Nick) Clemens, Jeanne (& kids, Joslyn & Easton) Wagner, Dale Lengling, Charles Chappell and Sue (&
daughter, Kayla) Brown. Along with many friends at the Brown Bottle and at the Cozy Bar he would see
every day & his special dice game buddies at the Cozy Bar. What Paul wanted people to remember most
about him is that he was honest. He said what was on his mind, even when it wasn’t what someone
wanted to hear but they needed to. This was sometimes in serious situations but, mostly, in jest. He was
a social guy and enjoyed a simple life joking around each day with his friends, even on his grumpy days.
He greatly valued his friends and family, which included his in-laws who always loved him and always
considered him family.
Survivors include his daughter, Dena Kyle-Cochems of Madison; three brothers, David (Donna) Cochems
of Madison, Kenneth Cochems of Madison, Ronald (Gayle) Cochems of Tomah; best friend, Jeanne
Wagner of Plymouth; and special relatives, Debbie Klinger-Kuehl and Jeanne (Klinger) Kaminski. He is
also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Carol DuPont and Janet “Dolly” (Craig) Wenger;
and two brothers, Jimmy Cochems and Charles “Lucky” Cochems, father in-law, Fonzo Kyle, sister in-law,
Judy Adams, and best friends, Tony Clementi, Debbie Clemens and Dale Lengling.

April 3 rd , 2021 from 10 am – 1 pm at the Brown Bottle Bar and from 12 pm – 5 pm at the Cozy Bar in
