With Friday’s vaccinations still to be tabulated, by most measures on Monday the number of fully vaccinated Sheboygan County residents will exceed the number of confirmed cases of the virus it’s designed to combat. As of Friday’s daily update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health and the Wisconsin DHS, 13,073 persons were fully vaccinated, while 13,142 had already contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus. 133 of those didn’t survive, while 12,837 have recovered – 7 of those logged since Thursday. With 11 positive test returns, 16.6% of total tests, the number of active cases rose for the 4th consecutive day to 172. Hospitalizations remain at 9. The Sheboygan County Activity Level remains “High”, with a current burden rate of 159.8 cases per 100,000 people.
The state DHS recorded 390 new cases of the coronavirus, placing the running total at 571,610. The positive test rate was 17%. Six more deaths puts the toll at 6,562, and after accounting for those deaths along with discharges, 30 new patients puts Wisconsin’s COVID hospital population at 213, nine less than yesterday. 25 more patients are waiting for their test results while being treated. 64 COVID patients are in ICU beds, and 376 ventilators are in use overall.
