The number of active COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County has been on a rising trend since Monday, with Tuesday’s active number increasing by 19 cases, Wednesday by 4 and today by 6, to 168 persons fighting the coronavirus. Thursday’s increase was the product of 12 persons recovering at the same time that 18 positive tests were confirmed, pushing the running total to 13,131. Hospitalizations were steady at 9 patients. The positive test percentage was 23.6% of all results received since Wednesday.
At least one dose of vaccine has now been administered to 24,591 county residents. That’s 21.3% of the population. 12,545 persons – 10.9% – have completed their series of shots.
The Wisconsin DHS reports 490 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 over the last day, 15.5% of tests returned, putting the state’s confirmed COVID case total at 571,220. Two more deaths were attributed to COVID-19, raising the death toll to 6,556. 52 more persons were hospitalized, putting the state’s patient population at 222, 16 more than on Wednesday. 23 others are hospitalized while awaiting their test results, and 62 COVID patients are in ICU beds.
The weekly report of Facility-Wide Investigations from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health shows no change in the total number of facilities being investigated at 19. 3 are long-term care investigations, 1 is a group housing facility, 5 are workplace investigations, and 10 are at schools.
