The Wisconsin 2021 Spring Election is just a few weeks away, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation DMV wants you to know how to get a valid ID for voting free of charge.
Valid identification for voting purposes includes a driver license, identification card, military or student ID card and the like, but there’s no separate “voter ID”, and a federally-compliant REAL ID isn’t required. If you’re not sure if your card qualifies, the Wisconsin Elections Commission website can help you check. And if you do need an ID, there are documents you’ll need to supply before you’re issued an ID card. The application process is quick, but getting your documents can take time, so it’s best to start soon.
