Time is running out for people to give their input on a large-scale solar energy project to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission. Onion River Solar, LLC is proposing to develop, design, permit, construct and operate a 150 MW solar electric generating facility on 1,900 acres, occupying various parcels located roughly either side of County Highways GW and A between Highway G and Dekker Road in the town of Holland. Ranger Power, a Chicago-based company, developed the project on behalf of Onion River Solar.
The project has received support from the Sheboygan County Economic Development Corporation, but has encountered opposition from some residents, with the impacts on quality of life, use of agricultural land and habitat disruption among the concerns.
The public comment period runs through Tuesday, March 16th, after which the Public Service Commission will take them into consideration.
