The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County rose by 6 according to the daily report from the Division of Public Health. 18 of the 91 tests returned – 20% – were positive, while 12 persons recovered, and the county’s total case count rose to 13,024. Hospitalizations were unchanged at 7. There were no additional deaths attributed to COVID-19, and the toll is 133.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services logged 502 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, adding to the running total cases which has now reached 568,352. The positives comprised 12% of all tests received since Wednesday. There were no deaths added to the toll of 6,524, and 40 more persons were hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19. The state’s patient population increased by 24, to 258…67 of those in ICU beds, and 368 patients are ventilated. That likely includes some of the 24 that have yet to receive their test results.
18.1% of Sheboygan County residents, 20,908, have received at least one dose of vaccine as of Thursday morning, and 9,894 have completed their course of immunization against the coronavirus.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services today announced that tentatively, on March 29th, individuals age 16 and older with certain medical conditions that have a greater risk of severe infection from COVID-19 will be eligible to receive their vaccine. A list of those conditions is available here.
Depending on vaccine supply, the Wisconsin DHS anticipates that all individuals age 16 or older will be eligible for vaccination sometime in May; the exact date has yet to be determined.
