Larry M. Kornetzke, a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away
unexpectedly at his home in Plymouth on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the age of 75.
Larry was born on November 30, 1945 a son to the late Jerome and Hilda (Jung) Kornetzke. He
attended schools in Plymouth graduating from Plymouth High School. On April 20, 1968 he was
united in marriage to Mary Lou Gilson at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. For over 40 years
he was employed with Sartori Cheese Company. Larry was, as his daughters said, the best dad
there could be, always ensuring they knew how proud he was of each of them. He greatly
cherished each of his grandchildren.
Larry was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish where he proudly served as an usher
and was very committed to the Friday fish frys held at the church. He was also active with the
Food Pantry and Plymouth Historical Museum. He enjoyed doing yard work not only at his
home but for other friends.
Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, his five daughters, Jane Kornetzke of Plymouth, Sara
Kornetzke of Odenton, MD, Katie (Scott) Bruckner of Plymouth, Lynn (Dan) Flood of Plymouth
and Mary Kornetzke of Plymouth; seven grandchildren, Connor and Trevor Bruckner, McKenna
and Ian Flood, and Chloe, Mara and Ariana Kohlmann; his sisters, Beatrice Lisowe of Plymouth,
Germaine (Melvin) Faust and Gladys Kornetzke both of Kiel and a sister-in-law, Jean Kornetzke
of Plymouth. He is also survived by Yvonne Hungler, an exchange student from Germany who
spent a year of her high school; years with the Kornetzke family and whom he considered
another daughter. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He
was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Gordon Kornetzke and a brother-in-law,
Howard Lisowe.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 115 Plymouth
St. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 10 am until 12 noon. A Mass of Christina Burial for Larry
will be celebrated at 12 noon with Rev. Philip Reifenberg as celebrant. Burial will follow in the
parish cemetery. Masks and social distancing will be required.
A memorial fund has been established in Larry’s name.
