Last June the Wisconsin DNR was taken to court for cancelling in-person hunter safety classes due to the pandemic, and only after that were the classes held. This time around It will be much easier for aspiring hunters to get their certification, as classes will begin on April 1st.
According to the Wisconsin DNR, anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1973, must complete a hunter education course and have a hunter education safety certificate on file to purchase any hunting license in Wisconsin.
Online enrollment begins on Monday, March 15th, with classes beginning 2 weeks later. COVID-19 safety protocols such as limited class size, masking and physical distancing will be observed, and classes are available to both archers and firearms hunters. Registration for the classes is done through the DNR’s “GoWild” web page, and the safety education information is available here.
