Most high school graduates have to endure a stressful wait to receive their college admission acceptance – or rejection letters in the mail, but in the case of the Random Lake Class of ‘21, something different happened. On Monday, Random Lake School District Administrator Mike Trimberger told each graduating senior, 75 in all, that they’d been accepted for the summer and fall 2021 semesters at Lakeshore Technical College.
LTC Executive Director of Admissions and High School Relations David Hermann said that the traditional college admissions process is often stressful and overwhelming for the applicant, and that can be a barrier. This very untraditional event, coordinated by the Random Lake School District and LTC, was a way to show the seniors that they don’t have to jump through hoops to get into college.
Each senior received an official acceptance letter along with a packet informing them about transfer opportunities, financial aid and scholarships, free laptops and WiFi hotspot rentals, and options to learn in person, online, or a combination of both.
