
Richard E. Kuether, 97, of Howards Grove went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday,
March 1, 2021 at Pine Haven Christian Communities in Sheboygan Falls. Richard was born in
Smiths Mill, MN on August 12, 1923 the son of Rev. Herman A. and Eleanora (Hendel) Kuether.
In 1930, the family moved to Millersville, St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church. Richard attended
various local grade schools and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School with the Class of
1941.
In June of 1943, Richard proudly enlisted in the US Marines and served in the Pacific Theatre for
a year and a half in Pearl Harbor, Einewetok, Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa, and as part of the
Occupation Force on Japan, returning home in February 1946.
On May 22, 1948 he was united in marriage to Elaine Heuer at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
In 1949 he built their home, and he was able to remain there until January 2021. In 1966
Richard purchased the Heuer Family Farm. He spent his time maintaining the yard and
buildings, but what he loved most was spending time in the woods cutting firewood.
Richard was a devout Christian and lifetime member of St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church where his
father served as Pastor.
Richard worked for Motor Transport Company for 32 years and ANR Freight Systems for 5 years
retiring in 1985.
He is survived by his son, Richard J. (Lois) Kuether, daughter, Kathleen (Jeff) Bord, four
grandchildren; Alissa (Brandon) Bonlender, Erin (fiancée Jon Vick) Kuether, Stacy (Heather)
Mielke, and Christopher Bord, great-granddaughter Avery Mielke, sisters-in-law; Connie
Kuether and Lynn (Allen) Kraemer, brother-in-law Lloyd Jaeger and many nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers; Robert
(Marilyn) Kuether, Eugene Kuether, Herman (Amy) Kuether, sisters; Irene (Milford) Henning,
Vera (Howard) Williams, Ruth (Lawrence) Fischer, and Doris (Harold) Fischer, sister-in-laws;
Mary Jaeger, Benita (Harold) Bitter, and Mirtha (Willard) Hansman.
A private family service will be held for Richard with burial following at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Richard’s name.
