Matthew R. Dice
A 22-year old man from Uniontown, Ohio was taken into custody in the Township of Eaton on Saturday and charged with Child Enticement, Child Abduction, and Trespassing.
According to Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig, a homeowner there spotted a pickup truck stuck in snow in his driveway, and when he approached, a young passenger fled from the vehicle. When deputies arrived they identified the operator as Matthew R. Dice, whom they determined had contacted the passenger, a 12-year-old Valders girl, online, intending to take her with him back to Ohio.
While the investigation continues, the Sheriff is urging families to discuss internet safety with children and to monitor their devices for potential problems.
