Betty Faith Sixel, age 98, passed away on Saturday February 27, 2021 at Pine
Haven Christian Home where she had been a resident since 2016. She was born
February 23, 1923 in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late Rual and Alvina
(Lindholm) Cogswell.
Betty was a 1941 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School.
On July 1, 1944, Ralph Sixel was united in marriage to Betty Faith Cogswell at St.
Marks UCC in town Mosel.
Betty worked as a bookkeeper at Schuette’s Department Store in Manitowoc until
marriage. In 1957, Ralph started the R.L. Sixel Electric Company, where she
worked alongside Ralph, retiring in 1986. Ralph preceded her in death on
December 6, 2016.
Betty was a faithful member of St. Marks UCC where she had been in the choir.
Ralph and Betty travelled in the United States, went fishing in Canada and visited
Germany. Betty enjoyed the challenge of a good Jigsaw puzzle, was an expert
Bingo player, loved reading, playing cards, the Packers and the Brewers.
Betty is survived by her children: Gary (Vicki) Sixel, Christine (James) Hayon,
Keith Sixel, Lee (Nancy) Sixel and a daughter-in-law Susan Sixel. She is further
survived by her grandchildren: Stefanie (Justin) Trakel, Sarah (Joel) Reuter,
Jennifer Arentsen and Maggie Hayon, step-grandchildren: Traci (Tracey) Brill,
Deena (Dean) Kapelka and Travis (Krystal) Drossel, 7 great-grandchildren, 6 step-
great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-great grandchildren, her brother-in-law Richard
(Mary Lou) Sixel, Jr., many nieces, nephews, cousins and other friends.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her husband Ralph, and her
son, Jeffrey,
A Funeral Service for Betty will be held on Wednesday March 10, 2021 at 10 A.M.
at St. Marks United Church of Christ, Town Mosel with the Reverend Patrick
Schultz, officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Friends may
call at Zimmer Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center on Tuesday March 9,
2021 from 4 until 6 pm. Covid Protocols will be observed.
A Memorial Fund has been established in the name of Betty F. Sixel.

Betty received as a resident.
