SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Another death of a county resident due to COVID-19 was reported in the first daily report of the new week from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. The person was someone age 80 or older, and becomes the 108th casualty here since the coronavirus pandemic arrived last March, and the 52nd in that age category. 25 others were in their 70s, 19 in their 60s, 5 in their 50s, 4 in their 40s, two were in their 30s, and one was between 10 and 19 years old.
96 of the 382 test returns received since the last report were positive for COVID-19, a 25% positive rate, which raises the running total to 12,173. 137 more persons recovered Saturday through Monday, and the Sheboygan County active case count dropped 42 to 715, the lowest number since mid-October. 4 more persons than on Friday were reported hospitalized, a total of 12 in Sheboygan County.
The two-week rates and trajectories reported by the State DHS show Sheboygan County at a “Very High” activity level of 610.4 cases per 100,000 population, and no significant change in trajectory.
Since our last report on Friday, the Wisconsin Division of Health Services reported 4,626 more persons coming down with COVID-19, 1,083 of those today, and raising the state total to 522,977 so far. 5,470 of those have not survived the disease, with 19 deaths reported today…148 since Friday. The positive test return rate today was 21%. 54 more persons were hospitalized, and after accounting for deaths and discharges, the population of COVID-19 patients in state hospitals rose 22 to 875. 209 of those occupy ICU beds. 52 more persons are hospitalized while awaiting their test returns, and 443 persons are currently on ventilators in Wisconsin.
