SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County declined once again today, as the 76 recoveries outnumbered the 56 new cases, putting the active number at 828. 11 persons, one less than on Wednesday, were hospitalized. With 187 test returns received in all, the positive test rate was 30%. 11,665 county residents have so far battled COVID-19, and 96 have lost that battle.
Wisconsin added 3,791 new case confirmations today, raising the running total to 498,538 and poised to top a half million. The positive rate per test was 37%, while the seven-day average percent positive by person was 31.9%. 40 more deaths due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours raise the toll to 5,079. 99 more persons were sent to hospitals for treatment of their symptoms. After accounting for discharges and deaths, the state’s COVID-19 patient population fell 51 to 1,077. 244 of those occupy ICU beds. Another 41 patients suspect COVID-19 and await their test results, and 460 patients in all are on respirators. While the Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis remains unoccupied, there are 3 patients receiving daily Bamlanivimab infusion therapy there. The therapy infuses man-made antibodies that may help limit the amount of the coronavirus in the body, giving one’s own body time to develop the ability to produce its own antibodies in sufficient amounts to successfully fight the virus.
