The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health reports having been overwhelmed with questions related to where we are at locally in regards to allocation and distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations. They expressed hope that updates on those factors will eventually be done on at least a weekly basis.
For now, vaccinations are available ONLY for Phase-1A Individuals. That currently involves both local hospital systems vaccinating their frontline workers, with the second scheduled dose of the vaccine to some staff members as early as this week. Also, all Sheboygan County skilled nursing home facilities and assisted living facilities have been paired with a pharmacy through the Pharmacy Partnership Program, and some have already held their initial vaccination clinics. Those unaffiliated healthcare workers, paramedics, EMS and phase 1A community members have been working with the County DPH to be connected to a vaccine clinic.
The progression of vaccination past Phase-1A is still under discussion by the State Disaster Medical Advisory Committee, which will determine the definition of “essential workers”. The county declined to offer a date when the general public could expect vaccines to become available. This, they say, depends on many variables such as allocation numbers determined by the federal government, which are subject to change. However, they have committed to being transparent and open throughout the process, and are working “around the clock” to be prepared for any vaccine allocations scenario.”
