SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health on Friday announced the deaths of three more Sheboygan County residents in its daily COVID-19 update. Of the three deaths being reported, one is in the 60-69 age group, one is in the 70-79 age group and one is in the 80+ age group. The coronavirus has claimed 15 lives this week alone, and a total of 78 during the course of the pandemic.
If there was any good news to report closing out this week, it would be that Sheboygan County has improved one level on the “Activity Level,” dropping from the highest “Critically High” to “Very High.” The criteria used to judge that is that we’re now experiencing a case rate of 989.4 cases per 100,000 people. However, the case trajectory averaged over the last two weeks was upward by 18%.
The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Sheboygan County so far is now 10,010 with the addition of 67 new positive cases identified since Thursday. With 152 recoveries, the active case tally dropped 88 to 1,623. That’s the lowest number since 1,561 active cases were reported on October 28th. 13 persons, one less than on Thursday, are hospitalized, and with 191 negative test results received, the positive rate was just shy of 30%.
Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services recorded another 3,858 new cases of COVID-19 since Thursday, raising the state total to 429,957. With 11,045 tests received in all, the positive rate was 34.9%. 47 more deaths were recorded, and the death toll was 3,991. 145 more hospitalizations took place since yesterday, and after accounting for deaths and discharges, the state COVID-19 patient population dropped 36 to 1,448. 9 of those are housed in the Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis, and 328 are in ICU beds. 533 patients – either confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19, require ventilators.
