(WHBL) – The 2020 gun deer season in Wisconsin saw increases in both the number of hunters and in the harvest as well. Preliminary figures show that hunters registered 188,712 deer during the nine-day hunt, including 85,340 antlered, and 103,372 antlerless deer. Since the archery season opened September 12th, 305,171 deer have been registered in all. Compared to 2019, the total nine-day gun deer harvest was up 15.8% statewide.
Sheboygan County yielded 807 antlered, and 1,125 antlerless deer during the 9-day gun season that concluded on Sunday, for a total of 1,932 harvested. Among all hunts, a total of 3,032 deer have been taken in the county.
Those numbers will be increasing, as the muzzleloader hunt continues through December 9th, the four-day antlerless-only hunt takes place December 10th through the 13th, and another antlerless hunt happens in select zones including Sheboygan County December 24th through January 1st. There are also a few archery and crossbow hunting seasons in January of 2021.
