(WHBL) – Training the teams that respond during emergencies will get a boost at LTC, thanks to a 5-year, $750,000 grant from the Midwest Consortium for Hazardous Waste Worker Training. LTC is one of 13 members of that consortium that has served to channel funds from the National Institutes of Health since 1992.
LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen expressed thanks for the funding, which will support curriculum and training as well as purchasing air monitoring and rescue equipment. A trailer that allows LTC to bring its training off-campus will also be replaced.
Nearly all of the grant will be used for the program over the next 5 years, while $10,000 will be used specifically for training related to the COVID-19 pandemic and towards the purchase of Personal Protective Equipment and other materials.
