SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health reported that one person in their 50s, and two more age 80 or older fell victim to COVID-19 in Sheboygan County since Wednesday’s report, raising the death toll here to 28. Of the total, one was in their 30s, one in their 40s, three were in their 50s, four in their 60s, seven were in their 70s and twelve were 80 or older.
127 more positive tests were recorded, 42% of all tests returned. The addition of 43 recoveries couldn’t offset new cases, and the active roster rose by 82 to 1,643. Of those, 17 are hospitalized. 4,929 county residents in all have experienced COVID-19.
Wisconsin added 4,870 new confirmed coronavirus infections, putting the total at 214,996. With 13,174 test results received, the positive test rate was 40%. 51 more deaths were added to a toll that’s now reached 1,948, and 193 more persons in Wisconsin were hospitalized. There are 1,453 COVID-19 patients in Wisconsin, 330 of them in the ICU. 169 more are hospitalized and awaiting test results, and 454 are on ventilators. The State DHS reports that in Southeastern Wisconsin – which includes Sheboygan County – 91% of available beds are now occupied, with about a quarter of those with COVID in the ICU.
Thursday’s Facility-Wide Investigations report from the County DPH listed 67 active investigations underway. 13 of those are long-term care facilities, 8 of which were identified as:
- Meadowview
- Morningside
- Pine Haven-Haven Drive Campus
- Progressive
- Rocky Knoll Health Care Center
- Sheboygan Health Services
- Sheboygan Senior Community
- Sunny Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
Two group housing facilities were being investigated, 7 workplace investigations were underway, and there were 45 educational facilities hosting active investigations.
