SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The coronavirus pandemic sweeping Wisconsin and the globe is accelerating, with declining numbers the exception, not the rule for several weeks. Over 37% of all tests received in Sheboygan County were positive on Tuesday, adding 107 to the case count that now totals 4,697. Active cases now number 1,524, 60 more than Tuesday, while recoveries added 46 to the roster. Of the active cases, 23 are hospitalized.
Sadly, another death due to COVID-19 was reported by the County Division of Public Health. Identified only as someone age 80 or older, this raises the death toll to 25.
Wisconsin’s confirmed case count leaped by 5,262 – the first time over 5,000 cases were added in a single day, raising the state total to 206,3011. With 16,528 test returns received in all, the positive rate was 31.8%. Deaths increased 64 to 1,852, and hospitalizations jumped 220 in the last day.
The Wisconsin Hospitals Association COVID-19 dashboard on Tuesday showed a total population of 1,385 COVID patients. 339 of those were in the ICU. 447 patients in all were on ventilators, and 113 patients were awaiting their test results.
