(WHBL) – The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin DNR are asking for the public’s help in identifying a turkey hunter who accidentally shot a person in the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The incident happened on Tuesday near County Road “V” about a half mile south of State Highway 67 in the Town of Mitchell.
The incident was reported by an area hospital which treated the victim in their emergency room for non-life threatening injuries. The victim told investigators that the hunter realized his error and offered to call for aid, but that he declined that offer.
The hunter is described as a male of Asian descent wearing all camouflage clothing, approximately 40 years old, about 5-1/2 feet tall and of huskier build. The hunter immediately left the area in a red, late model Toyota Tundra Pickup.
Anyone with information on the identity of the hunter is being asked to call Sheriff’s Detective Scott Wieland at 459-3134 or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-877-283-8436.
