SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Although attributing some of the state surge to a lag in reporting, Wisconsin recorded over 4,000 new cases of COVID-19 for the second consecutive day with 4,205 added on Wednesday. Within Sheboygan County, 156 new cases were added, with 23 of those attributed to KMCI, which now has recorded 844 cases. The county total rises to 3,995 and the active cases now number 1,003 – up 113 from Tuesdau. Active case numbers do not include any inmates at KMCI. Only 20 persons recovered from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, and 21 persons are hospitalized with the disease. With only 287 negative test returns received, the count positive rate since Tuesday was over 35%.
Regular community testing is now being conducted at the Sheboygan County Aging and Disability Resource Center at 650 Forest Avenue in Sheboygan Falls each Wednesday and Friday from 10 AM till 6 PM.
With local hospital capacity reaching around 80%, the County DPH on Wednesday issued an Emergency Alert, pleading for compliance with all recommendations issued by local, state and national agencies to control the spread of the coronavirus.
The 4,205 new positives in Wisconsin since Tuesday upped the total count of COVID-19 to 182,687. With 9,886 persons tested, the positive rate was over 42.5%. 48 more persons died since yesterday, raising the state death toll to 1,681. 167 more persons entered hospitals for treatment. 1,190 COVID patients are hospitalized in Wisconsin, with 209 of those in the ICU. 299 persons are hospitalized awaiting their test results, and 458 persons are now on ventilators.
