MANITOWOC, WI (WHBL) – Two women were arrested in Manitowoc County Wednesday after the stolen vehicle they were in failed to negotiate a turn, entered a ditch and crashed into trees. Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig says the pursuit began when a Sheriff’s Lieutenant spotted a 2013 Ford Mustang that was reported stolen along with firearms from the Sturgeon Bay area traveling eastbound on Goodwin Road in the Township of Manitowoc.
When a stop attempt failed, the pursuit began, reaching speeds of around 100 MPH. The 3-minute chase ended in the crash on County Highway “B” north of Schatzie Lane.
The two fled on foot and the 20-year-old passenger was arrested a short distance from the crash. The driver, a 32-year-old woman, was located a short time later by K-9 Leon and subsequently arrested. A search of the vehicle located drug paraphernalia. The investigation continues and charges are pending.
