SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Two more persons in Sheboygan County, one in their 70s and the other 80 or older, have fallen victim to COVID-19 as of Wednesday’s daily report by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. They join 16 previous deaths here as the pandemic continues its progression. Of those, one person was in their 40s, one was in their 50s, 4 were in their 60s, six were in their 70s and six were 80 or older.
Nearly 13% of tests received since Tuesday were positive, with the new 78 bringing the county’s total case count to 1,877. 59 of the new cases were inmates of the Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution, which has now tallied 263 incidents of the coronavirus. With 23 recoveries, the county’s active case count dropped by 6 to 185, and of those, 11 are hospitalized.
Wisconsin recorded another 2,319 positive test returns out of a pool of 11,792. That’s a positive test return rate of 19.6%. A new high daily death toll was reached today as 27 persons lost their battle with the coronavirus since Tuesday, raising the state death toll to 1,327. 91 persons entered hospitals with confirmed cases of COVID-19, while another 208 are hospitalized and awaiting their test results. Of the 646 confirmed COVID-19 patients, 205 are in the ICU and 382 patients in all require mechanical ventilation.
