ST. LOUIS, MO (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers’ fate came down to the final day of the season and thanks to help from the Padres, they clinched the final wild card spot in the National League. Milwaukee fell to the Cardinals, who also clinched, 5-2 in St. Louis.
The Cardinals used a four-run third inning to beat the Brewers. Harrison Bader tacked on a homer in the fourth, while Geovany Gallegos got the win.
The Brewers and Giants finished with identical records, but Milwaukee advanced on a tiebreaker with the better in-division record. The Brewers will face the top-seeded Dodgers in Los Angeles in a three-game series starting Wednesday.
