MADISON, WI (WHBL) – Next stop, the federal appeals court. Wisconsin’s Republican-led legislature on Wednesday asked the appeals court in Chicago to overturn this week’s ruling that requires local election managers in Wisconsin count absentee ballots that come-in as late as six days after Election Day.
Lawmakers say Wisconsin state law is clear that ballots are due back by 8 p.m. on Election Day. A federal judge in Madison this week said because of the coronavirus, and an expected crush of absentee ballots, voters in Wisconsin need more time to return their ballots.
