MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – Brandon Woodruff gave up all four runs as the Milwaukee Brewers fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 in the first game of their doubleheader at Miller Park on Wednesday. Woodruff pitched all seven innings, giving up seven hits, including two homers, and striking out five. Keston Hiura hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Milwaukee.
In game two, four Brewers pitchers combined on a two-hitter as they shut out the Cardinals 6-0. Ryan Braun launched a three-run homer and Jacob Nottingham added a two-run blast. Freddy Peralta pitched two perfect innings, striking out three, to get the win.
Milwaukee has alternated wins and losses over its last six games to land at 23-26.
The Brewers have Thursday off and will host the Kansas City Royals for a three-game weekend series beginning Friday night.
