MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – Keston Hiura drove home the tie-breaking run on a sac-fly for the walk-off win as the Brewers doubled up the Cardinals 2-1 in the first game of their doubleheader at Miller Park Monday night. Ryan Braun brought home the other run on a double.
Josh Lindblom pitched five scoreless innings, giving up just three hits but Freddy Peralta was credited with the win after one inning of one-hit ball.
In the nightcap, Justin Topa gave up a ninth-inning RBI single and the Brewers were edged by the Cardinals 3-2 in the second game of their doubleheader. Jedd Gyorko hit a two-run home run in the fourth to put Milwaukee on the board.
The Brewers have lost three of four to drop behind the Reds in the NL Central. They’re currently in fourth place, six games behind the Cubs for first.
They host the Cards again Tuesday night. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 6:05.
