(WHBL) – As people hit the roadways for the last warm-weather holiday, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is reminding travelers to plan ahead, wear seatbelts, put down the phone and drive safely.
The DOT said there were some road projects around the state that will require people to detour, however most actual construction will pause over the weekend to open as many lanes as possible. Those projects can all be found on the 511wi.gov website or by calling 511 for planning and on-the-road information.
All Wisconsin rest areas are open, but seasonal waysides – the rustic pull-offs on less traveled roads – will not have restrooms available.
